What we mean by Linguistics? the answer is here, let's start by introducing what is not linguistics :linguistics is not -Comparative Philology,not -the learning of many languages, not-Literary Criticism ,nor-a Traditional Study of Grammar.

Now WHAT IS LINGUISTICS ?

Linguistics interested in :- The study of languages &-obtain information about the nature of language

So Linguistics is the Scientific Study of Language( whe Language =languages and language)

Its central branches are :Sound, Structure and Meaning,and their disciplines,

For Sound we have:Phonetics and Phonology

For Structure of words and sentences we have:Morphology and Syntax

and finally for Meaning we have : Semantics and Pragmatics

athers ,we have psyco-,computational-,socio-, forensic-, clinical- ,neuro- ,and corpus-linguistics
